Getting Your API Key
virentiq.ai uses an AI called Claude — made by a company called Anthropic — to write posts in your voice. To make that work, you need something called an “API key.”
Think of it like a password that lets virentiq.ai use the AI on your behalf. Getting one is free, and this guide walks you through every single step — no guessing required.
Open the Anthropic website in your browser
Open your internet browser — Chrome, Safari, Firefox, or Edge all work. In the address bar at the top of the screen, type this exactly:
Create your free Anthropic account
Click the “Sign up” link on the page. You'll see a short form — fill in your email address and create a password. Then click “Create account” or “Continue”.
You can also sign up with your Google account if that's easier — just click “Continue with Google.”
Verify your email address
After signing up, Anthropic will send you an email. Open your email inbox and look for a message from Anthropic with a subject like “Verify your email address.”
Open that email and click the big button inside. This confirms that you own the email address — it only takes a few seconds.
Find the 'API Keys' section
Once your email is verified, log into the Anthropic Console at console.anthropic.com. Once you're logged in, look at the left side of the screen for a menu. Click where it says API Keys.
Create a new API key
On the API Keys page, you'll see a button that says “+ Create Key” or “New API Key.” Click it.
A small box will appear asking you to give your key a name. Type virentiq — this is just for your own notes so you remember what this key is used for.
Copy your key — important!
After clicking “Create key”, a long string of letters and numbers will appear on the screen. This is your API key.
Click the Copy button right next to it. The key will be copied to your clipboard — ready to paste.
Paste your key into virentiq.ai Settings
Now go back to virentiq.ai. In the left sidebar, click Settings. Scroll down until you see a section called Claude API Key.
Click inside the box and paste your key (press Ctrl+V on Windows, or Cmd+V on a Mac). Then click Save. Done!
Anthropic also has their own official guide to getting started with the API.
